This is the night for you!
You do not need to be a member or RSVP to attend this meeting; it is open to all interested people 18 and older.
This is a special discussion intended for individuals who are either curious or new to BDSM, designed to facilitate getting your questions answered.
A typical BDSM 101 has 10-20 participants with a diverse group of people. The meeting is an informal discussion and there is nothing you have to bring. Business casual or just plain casual attire is absolutely fine; fetish wear is not required.
BDSM 101 happens on the 3rd Friday of every month at 8pm.
What to expect:
The Woodshed designed BDSM 101 to be a welcoming, non-threatening way for people to learn more about BDSM, the local BDSM community, and the happenings at the Shed. As such, it is our goal to make the meeting as comfortable as possible for you. We know that for some people, knowing what to expect goes a long way towards easing fears so keep reading for some details.
How much does it cost?
BDSM 101 is a free meeting.
What should I wear?
Please do not feel that you need to wear fetish clothing. Any normal street attire is fine, whether you're in jeans and a t-shirt or a business suit. Many folks come straight from work.
Do I need to bring anything?
Bring your curiosity and any questions you might have!
What happens at BDSM 101?
When you get to the Shed, the space for this talk will be straight ahead from the entrance in what we call “left” or “red” dungeon. It’s really quite descriptive and you’ll see why when you get there ;-)
If you come early, please feel free to loiter and look at all the cool stuff in the lobby, or grab a free cup of coffee in the munchie room. You are also welcome to grab a seat in the dungeon and simply wait for the talk to start.
The BDSM 101 presenter will go over a lot of the basics of what it is that we do, including what we do and why we do it. We would also love to hear your questions and what you would like to know.
When the meeting ends, there will be several staff members available to answer questions and generally help out if they can.
At no point will you be required to so much as say anything, unless you choose. We will tell you about what The Woodshed has to offer, and there will be membership forms available, however you are under no obligation to join unless you want to.
If you do want to join, you will need $30 and a valid ID.
