Rope Study Group: Anatomy of a Harness
Wednesday, September 20, 2023, 07:00pm - 09:00pm

Rope Study Group:

The Anatomy of a Harness

Rope Study Group is a four week rope class series that focuses on a specific set of skills for the four week session.

Join us for this 201 series that will help you fine tune, adapt, modify, and build structurally sound harnesses and ties.

The objective of this series is to hone and improve your fundamental technical rope skills. We are going to be introducing some additional steps to harnesses covered in the 101 series to make them more structurally sound. We will also be showing how to add in modifications or adaptations to harnesses to accommodate your bottom's specific needs.

You might like this class if:

  • You took a Rope Study Group 101 and would like to learn more
  • You can tie harnesses but do not understand the structure or purpose of them
  • You are interested in getting into partial suspension but do not know how to bridge the gap between your basic skills and partial suspensions
  • You want to learn more structured ties

Prerequisites:

Tops must be able to tie a non-collapsing single column, double column, and know at least an x-friction/cross-friction.

This class is taught from the perspective of a tying pair. It is not ideal for self-tiers.

Cost: $25 per person for the entire series
Dates: Wednesdays September 20th, September 27th, October 4th, October 11th
Time: 7pm-9pm. We will start promptly at 7pm.
Location: The Woodshed Red Dungeon

Attendance is limited. Please only register if you plan to attend and you are able to attend all 4 classes. Your place will not be held until you register on Forbidden Tickets so be sure to register if you plan to attend.

Expectations

  • By registering for this course, you are agreeing to attend all four classes. Please do not sign up if you are not able to attend all four classes as each class will build on the knowledge shared in the previous class.
  • By registering, you are agreeing to set time aside each week to practice. This class will introduce a new skill or concept each week and it's important to practice what you learn.
  • Please come to class on time. We will start promptly at 7pm.

What if I don't have a bottom/top?
This class is not self tie-er friendly. If you do not have a bottom or top, you might not be able to practice everything learned in class but you are welcomed to come and actively take notes.

Do I need rope?
Due to COVID-19 we do not have loaner natural fiber rope. Please bring your own rope. Rope can be purchased at the Woodshed or online (some helpful places are MyNawashi and TwistedMonk. You can message @nevertheless or @bellswells for links and suggestions depending on your needs). It is suggested you bring 4-6 hanks (pieces) of 8 meters of rope.

What else should I bring?
Please bring a notebook and writing utensil, a rope cutting tool, and rope. If you need help or have questions about cutting tools or rope, please message @bellswells and @nevertheless.
