Rope Study Group 201: Adding Stress
Thursday, January 21, 2021, 07:00pm - 09:00pm

Rope Study Group is a four week, in person rope class that focuses on a specific set of skills for the four week session.

You did not have to attend previous sessions to attend this four week series.

However, this is not a 101 level class and prior knowledge is mandatory. Please read the prerequisites to make sure this class is right for you.

Prerequisite Skills:

Fundamentals (knowledge of tension, single column tie, double column tie, frictions, and latches) and a sustainable chest harness.
For the person being tied: body awareness, ability to communicate under physical and/or mental stress.

What will you learn?

Join us to learn ways to add physical and mental stress in rope bondage. This class will cover a variety of topics including: adding uplines to increase stress and tension, body manipulation and positioning to add stress and fatigue, experimenting with adding force to the body in different ways, mental fatigue through choice, and others.

Though this class will be using uplines, we will remain on the floor.

This class is for bottoms, tops, and self tie-ers that know their fundamentals and are interested in using their fundamentals to add stress and fatigue.

Cost: $20 per person for the entire series
Dates: January 21st, January 28th, February 4th, and February 11th
Time: 7pm-9pm. We will start promptly at 7pm.
Location: The Woodshed Red Dungeon

Attendance is limited to 20 people. Please only register if you plan to attend. Your place will not be held until you register on the Eventbrite so be sure to register if you plan to attend.

Everyone must wear a mask at all times.

Be sure to read our COVID precautions for more details.

Expectations

  • By registering for this course, you are agreeing to attend all four classes. Please do not sign up if you are not able to attend all four classes as each class will build on the knowledge shared in the previous class.
  • By registering, you are agreeing to set time aside each week to practice. This series will introduce a new skill or concept each week and it's important to practice what you learn.
  • Please come to class on time. We will start promptly at 7pm.

What if I don't have a bottom/top?
This class is self tie-er friendly! If you are not a self tie-er and you do not have a bottom or top, people are able to find someone to tie with at class, if that is in their comfort level (however that is not mandatory and it is not guaranteed that you will find a partner). If you are coming alone, do not be discouraged! Everyone is encouraged to learn these skills on themselves as that is a great way to practice.

Do I need rope?
Due to COVID-19 we do not have loaner natural fiber rope. It is highly encouraged that you bring your own rope (and also have rope at home to practice with). Rope can be purchased at the Woodshed or online (some helpful places are MyNawashi and TwistedMonk. You can message @nevertheless or @12cats on FetLife for links and suggestions depending on your needs). It is suggested you bring 3-5 hanks (pieces) of 8 meters of rope.

What else should I bring?
Please bring a notebook and writing utensil, a rope cutting tool, rope, and a carabiner or ring that can support dynamic load (carabiners weight weighted for rock climbing are available on Amazon or at REI. Wooden gymnast rings or metal rings made for rope suspension also work. Metal rings are available for purchase at the Woodshed). If you need help or have questions about cutting tools, carabiners, rings, or rope, please message @12cats and @nevertheless on FetLife.
